Those of you who have followed me on Facebook or Twitter know that for several years I used to post a regular #SongOfTheDay. In 2017, I decided it would be my last year of carrying out this daily duty and opted to go with a new, more visual regularly-scheduled social media activity – and a throwback to an earlier online photo-a-day blog that I had once completed back in 2010. I coined this new daily ‘creative’ challenge of mine #DailyPics and hopped aboard an existing #2018PhotoChallenge to become a regular photographic contributor out there. I should have known the music would not be far behind.

You see, by day 2 of this “photo” challenge, I quickly realized that my captions were all music-infused, that is, I couldn’t help myself: I was titling everything after songs.

And then the idea struck…what if the music could still remain on a daily basis but would instead be linked to a photo concept? It might be a literal interpretation of the title or a play on words — it might be a more complex metaphorical or allegorical use of the two together – whatever the relationship, I would marry my love of music with my bizarre brain and photographic perspective. Thus began my 2018 creative challenge.
And here we are – it is July 2. This means we are officially just barely over the hump, into our second half of the photoblogging year. I’ve been snapping pics and somehow correlating song titles (or the reverse if the song inspired a photo, which has happened, too!) for over 182 days now.
But did you know that while I was providing you photo-song title concepts to decipher (some easy to get, others a little more tricky), I’ve been keeping track of all of these and finding their related musical link mate to accompany them, so without further delay, I give you… #DailyPics 2018 from January 1 through July 1: Instagram photo links and YouTube links to their musical equivalent.
