This year’s Great American Read Summer Challenge 2018 is underway. The first book on my trek to read more The Little Prince has been read and reviewed, and the second Charlotte’s Web has already begun to spun its literary charm. If you read my recent blog, you know that I am on a mission. No, not a mission to read 78 books or series of books that I have either never started or never finished years ago. I’m more realistic than that. My goal is to simply read, read, and read some more. If I knock off 10 or 20 of these books, wonderful. If that number is double, even cooler. But the overall objective is to experience books that have made an impact on other people in some way, strong enough of an impact that the book made PBS’s Great American Read top 100 list of books across genres, eras and origin.
So, you can join me and embark on your own reading journey. I shared some pointers in that last blog of mine announcing my own reading challenge. And you can follow along as I share my own results and that includes book reviews, which I’ll be posting after each book is completed at my GoodReads profile. Are you following me there, too? Send me a friend request and let’s start chatting about these titles. I’m a writer, yes, but first and foremost, I’m a reader and am thrilled to sink my teeth into a new variety of titles over the next several months. Come along for the trip and take a few of the titles for a spin yourself!
Check out my first book review from the Great American Read Summer Challenge on GoodReads about Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s The Little Prince.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a date with Wilbur, an adorable pig, and a confident little spider named Charlotte. As always, thanks for reading. ~ Chris K.
