GREEN AND THE SPACE IN BETWEEN by Chris Kuhn
Look between the trees to see what vines entwine
Leaves and branches, buds and flowers,
Garnish and guard with cheerfulness and light,
Concealing truths of what lay behind
Discouraging words can harden the soul
And strip a tree’s bright hues and desire to bloom.
Silence with its talent to raise fear and doubt
Can drive a powerful pine to cower like a shrub.
Sunlit-drenched heights reach for the sky
Merging with shadows to dissolve into dark.
Stories do simmer and wisdom will grow,
But what cracks will remain upon sunrise?
