So how are you? If you are in the Gulfcoast region, the answer to this right now can be only one thing – drenched – as Tropical Storm Debby visits.
This week, I asked you to stop and examine where you are in your progress to tackle your specific goals and fears you’ve declared are your targets for this year. I believe the actual question was:
How are you doing with your resolutions and goals? Are you where you wanted to be – if so, what do you think has been the key and if not, what are you going to do about it?
I can’t believe that this upcoming week (June 30 to be precise) will mark our half-way point through the year. Wow. Where has this year disappeared?
I’ve never formally declared my 2012 goals on the blog and in fact, I didn’t really set any traditional “resolutions” for this year, but I know many people do. Informally, I definitely made it clear that I wanted to read more – and I’ve done that (even formally scheduling a time each evening to meet up with the hubster in the den/library and tackle at least a chapter of whatever book I’m reading). For me, that has been the key to remind myself to do it. And it has been such a wonderful addition to my life. I’ve missed reading simply for pleasure not purely purpose, so I’m happy with my progress there. As I always do yearly (and probably the rest of the world, too), I told myself I’d be neater and less cluttered. Yeah right. But I will say that a new creative little game to play against the clock with a 15-minute dish/kitchen clean-up window again scheduled in my planner for each morning called NEATO! has proven to be really successful at keeping the dirty dishes off the counter (not always but much more often than in the past).
What haven’t I done yet? Um, write. For me, that is. As you know, I’ve been attempting to tackle whatever fears are holding me back at finally writing that first book as part of a Change Clique group blogging experiment using a therapist’s five-step program to tackle fears and accomplish goals. I’ve even managed to procrastinate at resuming that program for two weeks. Great. I’m definitely not where I want to be there. I don’t have a lot on my plate today, this stormy, saturated Sunday. Perhaps today I put pencil to notebook and get started. What is that awesome RENT lyric…”No day but today.”
Let me know how you’re coming along on those goals you hoped to tackle this year and keep your chin up. We’ve got about 190 days to go…
Cheers to finding that daily spark in your life!
