Another month has come and gone, and the sweltering sun of summer has inspired some great music for my morning #SongOfTheDay selections. If you’ve ever visited Florida in the summer, you know that each day when you step outside, you could find a bright, sunny day or a dark, gloomy monsoon and everything in between, depending on the fickle nature of hurricane season. The only things you can be sure of are that it’s going to be hot and humid. But unpredictable skies aside, music always makes everything better.

JULY 2016 — It only helps my July #SOTD list to be even more eclectic by July being one of the longest months of the year. There were even more opportunities to feature a plethora of artists across genres and boy, did I ever this month? Everything from The Killers and John Mellencamp to A Flock of Seagulls and Little Big Town. I kicked off the month continuing my late June salute to summer with the likes of Belinda Carlisle, Sly and the Family Stone and Sheryl Crow. After that, I let the day inspire me. Whether it was a somber day following a national tragedy when only a powerful Josh Groban (pictured above) would do or a cool, peaceful day on the patio that inspired some Blind Melon.
The #ForgottenTunes were back in fine form in July with representation from the 70s, 80s and 90s. Pablo Cruise, Terence Trent D’Arby, Simple Minds and Martin Page took us back to songs we haven’t heard in a while, and that is a damn shame the radio stations don’t play them…but you heard them here.
