The journey continues through my 10-day movie challenge after being tagged by a friend on Facebook. I have been tasked to do the following:
So, of course, I’m ignoring that last part of the task and putting the explanation elsewhere, in the form of goofy little audios (5 minutes or shorter) on my YouTube channel. If you really do want to know why I picked this this next motion picture, go to the link at the bottom. Or don’t. It’s really up to you.
It’s Day 6 of the Challenge. Are you ready? Sure about that? Things are going to get very cold, dark and sinister really fast! And you may want to stand far enough away from the screen so that you are not the recipient of unexpected projectile vomiting courtesy of director William Friedkin and his chilling and suspenseful take on William Peter Blatty’s gripping horror novel THE EXORCIST (1973).
Did anyone else ever notice this director’s name reads like “fried kin”? That’s just creepy. That I discovered that little fact might be creepier.
I didn’t see this film when it was released (I was 3 years old, after all) and my first viewing was an edited-for-TV version, yet the film is THAT powerful that even at the age of 7 or 8 watching censored effects and language, I was absolutely terrified and probably scarred ever since. Oh well, what we’ll do for the sake of enjoying good cinema. I did eventually see the film in its original release form, and it only got stranger and more terrifying.
Wow. You’d never imagine the depths of evil where this adorable little girl could go, could you? Sigh. What a film. Learn how this haunting and spine-tingling film left its mark on me so much that I had to include it in my list of Ten Flicks That Made a Big Impact on Me. Thanks for reading (and listening). x ~ Chris K.
