Sometimes I feel a bit like a stranger in a foreign land. I’ve lived in Pasco County, Florida for over 17 years now and yet I still feel a bit out of place. They call this part of the county a bedroom community but sometimes bedlam seems more like it, at least in surrounding areas.
So why is that? How can a person live somewhere for that long and still not feel integrated?
Who knows what actually makes us feel connected or disconnected, but I would imagine the sights, sounds and smells of the area have a lot to do with it. And probably the people, too. Certainly the big guns help make a difference, and by that I mean political views, religious views and social views – and the big guns, too. Literally.
I visited this place for the first time last summer.
Definitely interesting. A lot of history. Many antiques. And the picture it paints?
This about sums it up.
Yeah, there’s a lot that I don’t have in common with the region in which I live.
Do you ever feel like a fish out of water – either in your neighborhood, at your workplace or maybe even in your family? This week, you and I are going to tackle those insecure feelings and come up with a plan to get us more in synch with the world around us.
So this week’s challenge is…
What are some ways you could prod yourself to better acclimate yourself with a part of your life where you still feel from another world? Come up with a plan of attack of how you can begin to eliminate always feeling like a visitor, even when you’re at so-called home or among friends or family.
And I’ll check in with you from my spaceship when I return from a little toodling around the cosmos where clearly I hail from.
Cheers to finding that daily spark in your life!
