Time to Shout SCRAM, 2018!

Time to Shout SCRAM, 2018!

Another year is ready to fly the coop and a new one set to roost. Are you ready for it? Me neither. But I do have some mini bottles of Martini & Rossi Asti Spumante and orange juice in the fridge so I’m at least mimosa-ready for New Year’s Eve. That’s something.

I don’t have any earth-shattering revelations or deep reflective observations about the year, myself or the world beyond — is it me or was this at times a real heartbreaker? I’d like to focus on the good things that happened in 2018 both in my own circle and in our collective, sometimes interlocking rings but honestly, those rings quite often felt like a really tough dodgeball match with us in the center and loads of flying balls aiming straight at our heads.

Did the world feel like that to you  at times this year, too? Each time we’d celebrate a victory, we’d experience tragic loss in a major storm or violent incident or someone we grew up with on TV or at the movies was lost. I thought 2016 and 2017 were a kick in the pants musically but this year took a lot of wind out of sails, too. It’s tough to see your beloved idols and heroes acting all…MORTAL.  Sigh.  Then, there’s all the tension and violence, bullying and head games.

I can only hope that as we enter 2019, we will finally be so tired of lying, bickering and tweeting at 3 in the morning, that maybe we’ll come to our senses and remember, we are all supposed to be playing for the same team. We seem to forget that sometimes. That’s right, folks. We’ve all got to play nice in the sandbox. Funny how how our kids and grandkids eventually figured this out yet we adults cannot. (Cats don’t though. They usually think it’s the Barbie Dream House version of their litter box. Probably should leave the cats at home. Of course, I’d say this anyway. I’m a dog person.)

I wish you good health, good fun and good fortune. Oh, and thank you to those of you who take a few minutes out of your busy schedule each day to read a blog, like or comment on a post or “heart” one of my #dailypics. It means a lot to me.  I will be trying some new creative things here on my blog, on Instagram and in my daily posts, so please, stop by and say hi when you can. Can’t have social media without the “social.”

And speaking of all of that fun social media stuff…be looking for a special blog tomorrow when I’ll treat you to my second half of last year’s #dailypics links – all in one blog at a glance. That’s right, not only the links to all of this year’s Instagram pics but the song links that the photos inspired for each title. You thought I planted an ear worm last time with my hashtagged lyrics. Just wait until you click on the YouTube link and hear Anita Ward’s “Ring My Bell” in your head ALL—-FLIPPING—-DAY. Heh. #youarewelcome

Thanks for reading. Happy New Year to You!  ~ Chris x
